Description:
General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1926, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 9oz, IC/F, LOP 14", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: FWE 90916

Owning a rare vintage American shotgun in excellent condition brings a certain sense of pride.  The L.C. Smith guns are growing in popularity, soon to catch up to the Fox guns, in my opinion.  The Trap Grade was a low production gun, with only 282 16ga. Trap Grades on record.  Of the 282, only 47 had 26” barrels, and only about 28 or so had a factory English style stock.  IF YOU LIKE ENGLISH STOCKS ON YOUR VINTAGE DOUBLE GUNS YOU KNOW HOW HARD THEY ARE TO COME BY.  This rare Trap Grade has stunning, highly figured wood with amazing fiddleback figure that looks different from every angle.  Serial number FWE90916 built in 1926, is not only a super rare find, but it has very strong factory original condition as well.  All metal has factory original finishes, with 70% case color, 96% barrel blue, the trigger guard retains 97% charcoal blue, and the forend escutcheon and trigger blade blue is 98%.  The bores are perfect mirrors, the screws are perfect, and the factory original wood has no cracks and superb checkering.  The wood on this gun is off the charts, and when we got the gun the pad was hard and damaged, the buttstock was dirty, and the finish had become opaque, hiding the figure in the wood.  We restored the wood to its factory original glory with 10 coats of a hand-rubbed Truoil finish.  We also added a genuine Silvers pad.  The engraving is sharp and clear, the double ivory beads are intact, the barrels are tight as new on the hinge pin and standing breech, and the opening lever is way right of center.  THIS IS A GORGEOUS ELSIE!  Our in-house gunsmiths stripped the action and forend iron to the smallest part, cleaned them in the Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected each part for function and integrity, lubricated all properly, and reassembled the gun, making this Elsie a VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  Who does that on a 92-year-old gun?  The dynamics of this gun are notable as well, balancing dead on the hinge pin and weighing just 6 1/2lbs.  Choked perfect for your wild pheasants at IC/F, use RST Shells spreader loads to go after close flushers and your sporting clays targets.  This gun has it all---that classic vintage appearance with lots of factory condition, gorgeous wood, great shooting dimensions, dynamic handling characteristics, rarity, and very desirable features; the epitome of an investment quality gun that will sure to appreciate as you enjoy its use.  Thanks for looking!
