Ordnance proofs at the left breech and with Ordnance Sub-Inspector’s stamp “A” above the proofs. Lock stamped with rare early horizontal reverse arc “SPRINGFIELD” behind the hammer and with the correct muzzle facing “EAGLE” stamp forward of the hammer above the script “US” Government acceptance stamp. Correctly undated lock plate for 1803. Full length walnut stock with small “EH” inspector’s stamp on the left side of the stock behind the side plate. Early 1st Type Model 1795 long trigger guard with pointed finials similar to the French Charleville musket from which it was patterned after. All original and in excellent as found condition from a New Hampshire family where it has been until the modern era. Although worn evenly overall has an old deep brown patina on the barrel with the proofs worn but visible. Lock with very crisp markings and all the original lock parts and in working order. Stock with wear but in sound condition. And with no restoration. Old atypical wood replacement ramrod that has been with the gun from the period of use. With the accompanying very scarce Model 1795 Type 1 bayonet in equally nice condition with matching patina. SOLD Antique: Yes |
