Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Certified Check, Money Order Description: CIVIL WAR Antique EMERSON & SILVER 1840 NCO Sword U.S. Inspected Made in Trenton, NJ in 1863 Here we present an antique Emerson & Silver U.S. Model 1840 Non-Commissioned Officers Sword, manufactured in 1863 in Trenton, New Jersey. The Model 1840 NCO was adopted in that year and issued to sergeants as a secondary weapon. It saw use primarily during the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. This one features a steel scabbard with brass hardware. The right ricasso is marked “US/DFM/1863”. The left side is marked “EMERSON/&/SILVER/TRENTON/NEW JERSEY”. The initials are those of Dexter F. Mosman, a government inspector. The overall condition is fine. The blade is 32 inches in length and clean. The markings are clear. The brass hilt and hardware have a nice, dark, aged patina.
