Description:

CIVIL WAR Non-Commissioned Officers SWORD

ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE & EXQUISITE

Here we present a Civil War Non-Commissioned Officers Sword, made in Solingen, German circa 1862. The Model 1840 NCO was adopted in that year and issued to sergeants as a secondary weapon. It saw use primarily during the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War.

The ricasso is marked “COLLINS & CO/HARTFORD/CONN” and dated “1862”. This sword features a leather scabbard with brass fittings.

The overall condition of this sword is very good. The blade is 32 inches long and remains semi-bright. The markings are clear. The brass has a nice, aged patina. The leather scabbard has seen better days and seems to have absorbed any abuse that may have been meant for the blade all these years.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Overall condition as seen in photos.
