Etched CIVIL WAR Antique 1850 Foot OFFICER’S Saber
With Steel Scabbard & Portapee
Here we present an antique U.S. Model 1850 Foot Officer’s Saber, made circa 1860. The Model 1850 had a service life of 1850-72, with the climax of the action being the American Civil War, followed by the Indian Wars.
This example features faint etching on the blade with about 2/3 coverage. The hilt is very nicely appointed with floral scrolls as part of the cast. “US” is prominent among the flowers on the hand guard. Includes an original gold portapee. The scabbard is steel with brass hardware.
