WWI Imperial German Army NCO Sword by Herm Spohr
Very Nice 100+ Year Old Saber
Here we present a World War I Imperial Germany Army NCO Saber, manufactured circa the early-20th Century in Solingen, Germany by Herm Spohr. Use of this design was from about 1890 through the end of World War II, though many of the Third Reich examples will have Nazi eagles on the langet. This sword would have been especially worn for occasions during which dress uniform was required.
The left side of the ricasso is marked “ALCOSO/ACS/SCALES/SOLINGEN”. The right side of the ricasso is marked “HERM.SPOHR/HANNOVER”.
The overall condition is very good. The blade is 33 inches in length. The hilt is in very good condition with a “P” guard configuration. The grip is wrapped in black celluloid and braided wire.
