Foreign Made ANTIQUE Model 1840 NCO SWORD
With Engraved Blade & Folding Guard
Here we present an antique U.S. Model 1840 Non-Commissioned Officer Sword, made circa the mid-19th Century. This one is a bit more decorative than the standard version made by Ames. The knucklebow, pommel and quillon have little bits of detail. The clamshell guard folds on the left side. The blade is lightly engraved and would have been finished in gold with a blue background. Includes leather scabbard.
The overall condition is good. The 32 inch blade is in good shape with a dark patina. The scabbard has been patched up several times and shortened a bit so that the sword no longer fits into it all the way.
