MASSIVE Antique Clip Point BOWIE FIGHTING Knife
With Broad, Thick 13” Blade
Here we present an antique Clip Point Bowie Fighting Knife, made circa the mid-1800s. The bowie knife was popular from the 1840s though 1865. They were used by United States troops during the Mexican War and on the frontier during the disturbances in Kansas and Missouri in the 1850s. During the Civil War, they were popular with Confederate soldiers who did not have access to proper swords.
The overall condition is good. The blade is 13 inches in length, has several nicks and is dark with age. The wooden handle has a thin, lengthwise piece missing. A very sturdy example of a 19th Century Fighting Knife!
