Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Certified Check, Money Order Description: Awesome COLD WAR “VoPo” “byf 42” Code LUGER Pistol Used by Soviet East German Police After WWII Here we present a fascinating Luger Pistol, originally made by Mauser in 1942 at Oberndorf, Germany. This pistol would have seen use during World War II in the hands of a German soldier. When the Nazis were defeated, this pistol would have been kept in service under Soviet rule in the hands of the Deutsche Volkspolizei (VoPo, VP, DVP), literally translated as the German People’s Police. It is thought that these stayed serviceable until the reunification of Germany in 1990! This example shows several hallmarks of being a “VoPo” Luger. Essentially, everything done by the arsenal went into keeping these as fully functional, shooting weapons. The first hallmark is that the pistol has been rebarreled and marked with a “Crown/N” proof mark. All original Nazi German markings and Waffenamts remain, including the manufacturer code “byf” and “42” year code, “Eagle/135” and Eagle/Swastika acceptance markings. Any parts that were swapped during refurbishment were force matched with electric pencil. The entire gun has been dipped in blue. The grips are brown hard plastic, with bullseye logo. Extruded magazines both bear matching numbers to the gun on the aluminum base plates. One of the magazines is marked “2/1001” which in the mark of magazines made in East Germany. There are also the letters “E.C.C.S.A.” stamped on the right side of the gun in small print. It comes in an original P.08 leather holster marked “DLU/1940” on the back side, along with a “Eagle/WaA727” acceptance mark. The overall condition is fine as arsenal refurbished. The blue finish is 98%. The markings are still legible. The serial numbers match. The grips are in fine condition. The bore is pristine. The action is excellent.
