Description:
U.S. Model 1841 Mississippi rifle. Lock is dated 1844. Published material says that these were made starting in 1846, but this lock is definitely authentic. Nice sharp gun with a mixture of smooth brown patina and original arsenal brown on the barrel. Cartouches are faint but present. Wood has been lightly refinished. There is a small chip around the lock. Very early example!
