Description:
From the beginning to the end YERKES fought ,starting as a second sargent raising through the ranks to Lieutenant COLONEL. Wounded twice,once at Antietam and once at PEACH TREE CREEK. I have several pictures and complete history of this gallant hero, that will come with the sword. The presentation is on the pommel cap. The acid etched blade is dated 1862, with the U.S. AND EAGLE. The leather scabbard is in beautiful condition. This 1850 model foot officers sword, has a great leather grip, never been fooled with, just a good historical peice carried by a brave soldier,starting down in the ranks raising to the top.
