Description:
General Specs: Winchester, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 14oz, M/IC, LOP 14", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 9/16"
Serial Number: 11214

When John Olin wanted to have title to the strongest side by side shotgun in the world, he went to work and got it done.  The Model 21 is an American icon with a well-deserved reputation.  A strikingly handsome gun with the finest steels, gunners in the know have utilized this Winchester in the field and at the club to shoot thousands of rounds without failure.  IF YOU LIKE HEAVY LOADS FOR PHEASANTS OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS THE GUN.  FOR THOSE THAT SHOOT HIGH VOLUME BIRDS OR CLAYS, THIS IS YOUR GUN!  With only 30,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any high condition Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm.   Search the internet and you will see lots of 12ga. guns for sale, as most of the 30,000 made were 12ga. guns.  In the way of 16ga. M21’s there were fewer made than even the 20ga. guns, so finding original Model 21 guns in 16ga. is not an easy task.  When you do, they are usually 26” barreled guns with skeet chokes.  Most that you see have been restored with modern finishes that look like the receiver has been painted black and not done like the factory to factory specifications.  This M21 16ga. sn11214 is a bit different, as it has 28” barrels choked M/IC and it has all factory original finishes.  We considered restoring the gun to historically correct finishes, using charcoal blue on the receiver and trigger guard, and top-quality rust blue on the barrels, as these finishes are showing some wear.  But some gunners like the gun with the natural look, a gun that has been carried but well cared for.  That is how I would describe this gun, with 92% factory barrel blue, 60% factory charcoal blue on the action, and 65%, and beautiful factory wood with minor handling marks and one good ding on the right side of the buttstock.  We could restore the gun for an added $1700, but then the price of the gun would go up commensurately and maybe out of reach for those that want a nice Model 21 for the field.  If you like the specifics of this gun and want it restored PROPERLY to new condition, just ask and it will be done within 8 weeks.  The gun is mechanically perfect with strong, well-timed ejectors, single selective trigger, barrels tight on hinge pin and breech face like a new gun, screws all perfect, no cracks in the wood, perfect checkering and wood to metal fit, and the wood has fabulous figure.  The gun is priced right for an all original Model 21 with field use wear.  The one thing done to this gun was lengthened forcing cones which reduces felt recoil and provides better patterns, otherwise she is a vintage gun with a nice look to her.  You can buy this 16ga. for the price of a lot of the 12ga. guns being offered, and this is over a pound lighter than the 12ga.!  Thanks for looking.
