EARLY Antique WINCHESTER 1894 Lever Action Rifle
Chambered in .32-40 WCF & Made in 1896
Here we present an antique Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, made in 1896 in New Haven, Connecticut. Production lasted from 1894 to present day with over a million produced. The credit for the design of such a prolific firearm again lies with John Moses Browning. The Model 1894 was the first Winchester rifle made for use with the new technology of smokeless powder. It remains a deer hunting favorite, and, in all likelihood, more deer have been taken with the 1894 than any other.
This Model 1894 Rifle has been very nicely refinished with care to preserve the markings. It sports a 26-inch round barrel chambered in .32-40 WCF”. The top of the tang is marked “MODEL 1894/WINCHESTER/PAT. AUG. 21 1894”. The top of the barrel is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A.” The rear of the barrel is marked “32-40”.
The overall condition is near fine. The metal surfaces bear about 98% high gloss blue finish. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is smooth and solid. The bore is clean with good rifling. The action on this rifle is excellent.
