Description:
- Winchester Model 1886 Carbine. Manufactured in 1892, this SRC has a 22” barrel and standard carbine rear and front sights. As pictures show, there is a little loss of wood to the right of the lever and to the left of the hammer that have been filled with wood filler, but the remainder of the wood is very good with great fit to metal. Some very minor handling marks with a lot of original finish. Someone may have added a coat of wax but the wood is well above average for a SRC. Chambered for the .38-56 WCF, the bore is a little dark and a good cleaning would probably bring out more brightness. Rifling is still good with some light pitting. Most of the case coloring is gone but some remains in protected areas and lever. Barrel and magazine tube retain 50% original blue finish. This is a very nice example of an antique ’86 SRC and is priced well below Blue Book guide.
