Famars (formerly Abbiatico & Salvinelli) has been building fine sporting shotguns for decades. They have been in the upper echelon of Italian makers, producing both side by side guns and over/under guns. Most are quite expensive, ranging into the 6 figure range, rarely under $10,000. This gun is the Venere model, which is a round body, 7 pin sidelock side by side, hand engraved and checkered with 28LPI perfect checkering, built to the same high standards as the more expensive Famars shotguns. The barrels are perfectly struck with a smooth concave game rib, strong well timed ejectors, mirror bores and are mated to a nicely engraved receiver with perfect screws and mechanics, removable striker discs, side plates rounded to contour to the round body butt stock. The wood is straight grained walnut with no splits or cracks anywhere, wood to metal fit is just perfect as is the checkering. A wonderfully balanced gun weighing just 6 1/2lbs., this is the kind of gun that makes sense to carry for upland birds over hill and dale with a lot less fatigue than most all other 12ga. guns. The makers name, FAMARS, is known quality throughout the world, so you can own this gun with confidence that you can always trade or sell and get your investment back in hand, especially at the price it is being offered at.
