Description:
The classic Remington 1100 is one of the most popular semi auto shotguns ever manufactured and is also one of the most produced shotguns in history, with between three to four million produced. Even now, it is still produced in small numbers. It was introduced in 1963 to replace the Model 58 and 878 and was an immediate hit. Using Remington barrel date code diagrams on google, the two letters on the barrel closest to the receiver indicate the month and year of manufacture. In this case (“RO”), the 1100 left the factory in November of 1977. There is currently a plug in the magazine tube which reduces the magazine capacity to one in the tube and one in the chamber, leaving no doubt as to what sport this Remington has been used for over the years. Naturally, removing the plug will bring the capacity back to the original 4+1. As for the shotgun, there are few signs of wear and usage on the surface as is shown in the pictures above. There is some bluing loss on the bottom of the receiver. The bore of the barrel, on the other hand, is in excellent condition. It is shiny and smooth, with no rust or pitting - it’s clear that its previous owners understood the importance of keeping the bore clean. Internally, the action and bolt are fine condition and operate as well as any of the Remington 1100s I’ve seen. Overall this 1100 is in good condition. It should serve any owner well and should continue to perform as it has since the day it left the factory.
