Description:
Rare two band Enfield, 31" barrel, caliber .557. The original caliber was modified by Col. Boxer, who reduced the diameter to .557 after troops found the original caliber of .577 too hard to load during the India Mutiny. Interesting feature, there's a pewter tag stamped NYPD with number 713297 wired to the trigger guard. Possible police use prior to 1890 or held as evidence in a criminal investigation.
