VERY EARLY, ATTIC CONDITION FIRST MODEL 1873 ROUND BARREL RIFLE, #6XXX, MADE 1875, 44-40 CAL. Wonderful to see one of these that hasn’t been cleaned! Overall metal is a very aged blue mixing brown that has never even been cleaned or steel-wooled! Has the correct original oval print dust cover, early style lever with matching correct early lever catch. Fine markings and only the brass lifter shows some mars. Excellent uncleaned stock and forearm show normal light handling and are dark from collecting 143 years of grease and grime! Excellent very tight wood to metal fit and excellent screw heads (lever screw looks like a replacement). Buckhorn and blade front sight look like they’ve been on this one since it left the factory. Tight action, dark bore with good rifling would benefit from a good scrubbing out. Really hard to find early 1873s like this one!
