Beginning in 1940 Great Britain called upon the United States to produce their Enfield Mk4 Rifles. The J. Stevens Company was selected to manufacture these rifles. The J. Stevens company was a division of Savage and thus gave the rifle the name "Savage Enfield." Although the rifles were for Allied use, they were still roll stamped U.S. PROPERTY. This rifle is a great piece of history that would fit great in any World War 2 era collection.
