Description:
L.C. Smith Specialty 12 Gauge Shotgun
Ultralight 6lbs. 7oz

General Specs: LC Smith, Year 1912, 12 Gauge, 6lbs 7oz, SxS
Serial Number: 215511E

How many American vintage doubles have you ever seen under 7lbs.?  On rare occasion you find a 6 3/4lb. 12 bore.  In 20 years of chasing American doubles I have seen less than a dozen under 6 3/4lbs.  This Elsie, sn 215511E made in 1912 (the very beginning of the Specialty Grade and you can tell, as the engraving is superior to later guns), is in nice factory original condition and WEIGHS LESS THAN MOST ALL ELSIE 16 OR 20 GAUGE GUNS!  And does so with 28” barrels!  If you can carry a 12 bore that weighs the same as a 20 gauge you have the ideal upland gun; easy to carry all day and with great diversity of loads to choose from, superior patterns, and short shot strings.  This gun is special; condition, ejectors, single selective trigger, nicely figured wood, and ultra-light weight makes it a one-of-a-kind, investment quality shotgun.  When you consider a Purdey Lightweight Game gun costing over $100K weighs the same as this Elsie you get the idea of its value.  The barrels have 97% factory blue, are choked perfect for flushing birds at IC/IM, have mirror clean bores, 2 ¾” chambers, tight ribs, and are tight on the breech face and hinge pin.  The action retains 70% fading factory case color, excellent screws, lever well right of center, crisp and properly functioning SST, clean and excellent in all ways.  The action and forend mechanisms went through the Ultrasonic cleaner and the gun is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, WITH ALL PARTS INSPECTED, CLEANED, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED, good for another 30 years or so until needing cleaned again.  VFI CERTIFIED GUNS CARRY A 90 DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  The wood is in great shape and the LOP is measured from the rear position rear trigger and is not short.  If you need a longer LOP then we can add a vintage pad.  I am asking a premium for this gun and you may ask "why?".  There are many 12ga. Specialty guns for less money out there, but they lack condition, have replaced or restored parts, short stocks, heavy weights, etc.  I CAN SAFELY SAY YOU WILL NOT LIKELY ENCOUNTER ANOTHER ELSIE LIKE THIS ONE.  IT HAS NICE FACTORY CONDITION, PERFECT MECHANICALS, DESIRABLE OPTIONS, AND WEIGHS 6LBS. 7OZ.!!!  A good friend of mine, since past on to the great hunting grounds in the sky, used to say "Where you gonna find another one?"  Don't let this one pass you by.  You will not likely see another like it.Thanks for looking!
