Description:

Buffalo Sharps 1874 Wyoming Shipped Rifle. Made in 1879. This gun was originally shipped to Schuyler, Hartly & Graham. Then it was sent to Peter Bergernon in Cheyenne,Wyoming. The top of the barrel is marked “P. Bergerson”. There are no sharps marking and the gun is in .40-100 Sharps, making this a Bergersen made barrel. Metal is sharp but mostly gray patina. Gun has been mounted with scope that is 31¾” long. Stock is very good as altered. The buttstock has been shaved down into a cheek piece cut out. A patchbox has been added on the right hand side of the stock. Mr. Bergersen was a gunsmith and at one time city marshal among other things in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He immigrated from Norway in 1876 and lived in Cheyenne till his death in 1930. He apparently rode his bicycle into a parked truck and fell over dead or died of a concussion a week later at age 79. This is a really neat Sharps being shipped to Montana and having all of the neat modifications and frontier gunsmithing. Gun comes with a factory letter as well as a bunch of other historic research material.
