Description:
This is a really nice little vintage Ruger Model 77 tang safety rifle in the sought-after .22-250 caliber chambering.  It features a 22" inch sporter style barrel, a checkered Walnut stock with a factory recoil pad and sling swivel studs, the sought-after tang safety, and a factory adjustable trigger.  This rifle would make a perfect varmint rifle or long distance range toy.  While it has been used it appears to have been well cared for.  The factory original gloss blue finish still looks great and rates 97 to 98%.  Only under very close inspection can you find anything worth deducting a few points.  The black finish on the alloy triggerguard and floorplate is in great shape overall but shows some small chips where the silver alloy shows through.  This can be seen in the close up pictures provided of this area.  The bore in this Ruger 77 is spectacular.  There is no pitting or erosion visible whatsoever.  The rifling still looks prominent and sharp.  We would imagine that the rifle was carried a lot more than it was actually fired over the last 41 years.  The factory original checkered Walnut stock is in good shape overall and is completely free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  The checkered panels on the forearm and pistol grip still look clean and still have plenty of grip.  The wood shows some handling/storage marks in it but nothing major, and the Ruger branded pistol grip cap and Ruger-branded red recoil pad are in great shape and both still tight to the wood.  The factory sling swivel studs are also still in place, and timed properly to be tight to the stock and facing the right direction for proper sling installation.  This Model 77 comes with a pair of Ruger factory 1" inch medium height rings as well.  They appear to be in great shape with no damage or wear to the blue finish or exterior surfaces.  Everything on this Ruger M77 rifle works 100% like the day it left the factory.  All of the controls work perfectly and the action is smooth and precise.  The bolt turns into battery perfectly with no slop and the trigger is light and crisp.  If you have always wanted a .22-250 caliber rifle for your collection to plink with or hunt coyotes/varmints, this vintage Ruger M77 would be an excellent choice.  These older tang safety model Rugers in particular have become collectible as investments, and they also have a strong reputation for excellent build quality and accuracy in the field.  All this rifle needs is a scope and it would be ready to go.
