Description:
General Specs: Colt, Year 1930, .38 Special
Serial Number: 583453

The Colt revolvers that preceded the Python have gained serious interest from Colt collectors and shooter all across the country.  Early models in high original factory condition are bringing premiums.  This Colt Official Police, sn583453 shipped in 1930, is in remarkable factory condition with only slight wear at the muzzle and hard edges.  The gun has added interest as it has genuine ivory grips and has an inscription on the right-hand side of the frame that reads “In Appreciation to Jerome C. Looney From A Century of Progress”.  The inscription refers to the 1933, 1934 Chicago World’s Fair.  I have not been able to find out who Mr. Looney was, but apparently he was part of theanization, advertising, design, or who-knows-what else.  The contribution he made was awarded with a fine Colt handgun is what we do know.  Hopefully the new owner finds out that the man was famous and important and has a treasure in hand.  This Colt retains 98%-99% factory original blue throughout, with no wear to the front or back strap or trigger, perfect bore and screws, likely holstered and never really shot much.  The grips are genuine ivory grips that were put on the gun sometime in the last 88 years it has been around.  This would be a great and affordable edition to any fine collection of Colts, and will certainly go up in value as high-condition early production Colts become more and more scarce.  Thanks for looking!
