Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a beautiful and unique 1st year production Ruger "Old" Vaquero in .45 Colt. This Vaquero has an asterisk stamped in front of the serial number which denotes a gun that the factory sent out to be reviewed by a gun magazine or gun trade publication. Given that this is a 1st year production gun of a newly introduced model in 1993, the Ruger firm was anxious to get examples of this revolver into the hands of gun writers who could examine and shoot the Vaquero, and hopefully give it good reviews in national publications. A great deal of care was taken to make sure the guns that they sent out displayed excellent fit and finish and performed flawlessly. After the reviews and testing was done the gun was typically sent back to Ruger, whereupon it was cleaned, inspected, stamped with an asterisk, and sold as a "used" gun to a distributor/dealer. This gun is serial number (*)55-00417 and was the 417th Vaquero made in the model's introductory year, 1993. It is in excellent condition overall with a case colored frame, a blued 7.5" inch barrel, and a blued cylinder and grip frame. The original grips are smooth Walnut with silver Ruger medallions. All of the factory blue finished parts rate 97%, with only a few small handling marks visible under close inspection and a faint partial drag line around the cylinder. The case colored frame is very attractive with bright colors still showing, and rates a solid 95% plus. The bore in this Vaquero is minty and bright, still showing sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no pitting or imperfections of any kind. The cylinder bores are equally as clean and bright. The original factory smooth Wlanut grips are in excellent condition. The grips were perfectly fit by the factory and are free from any cracks, repairs, chips, or signs of wear. The silver Ruger medallions are in perfect shape and both are tight to the wood. All of the controls and the single-action operation of this Old Vaquero work 100% like the day it left the Ruger factory. The action is perfectly "in-time" and it locks up tight with no play. The trigger is superb in this gun, it breaks cleanly with no grit or slop. This gun is both very handsome and very robust. The combination of blued parts on a case colored frame with wood grips on this Ruger is very attractive. This Old Vaquero would be an excellent addition to any Ruger collection or general gun collection. Between being a 1st year production gun as well as reviewer's test piece it certainly has some added collectibility, and should be an excellent investment.
