Description:
Here is a fine gun that has been in the same family for more than 50 years and never before offered for sale to the collecting/shooting public! The gun is a VHE 28ga. 26" Original Vulcan barrels. Splinter forend, double triggers, automatic ejectors. This gun is an early OO Frame gun and is lightweight and well balanced. It has twin ivory beads and an unstruck barrel weight of 2lbs 10oz. The gun has its original buttstock and has a 14-1/4" LOP. The DAC is 1-1/2 and the DAH is 2-15/16. The gun has particularly nice wood for a VHE. The Barrels measure .555 (right) with .010 choke (lt mod) and .557 left with .029 choke (x-full). Min. wall thickness is .028 Right and .026 left. The gun has 2-5/8" chambers. This gun matches the specifications in the serialization book as found today.
The gun was restored in 1966 by Del Grego Sr. and has not been fired since. The quality of the restoration work on the gun, as seen in the photos, is superb. Accompanying the gun is the original paperwork from 1966 outlining the work that was done.
There is an ancient repair in the wrist on the left side which is hard to see and could be made invisible. Bores are brilliant and shiny, mechanics are crisp and the gun is tight when assembled. Engraving is crisp and the case colors are the more desirable early Del Grego colors, not the later stripes. This is a perfect set up for a lightweight 00 Frame 28ga that can be used and will serve many more lifetimes. Priced right at $Sold shipped to your FFL. Please PM with any questions.
