Description:
Serial #SA56744, .44-40, 4 3/4" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a beautifully embellished revolver that has a lustrous royal blue finish with three color precious metal inlays throughout. The inlays are applied in a graceful filagree motif with gold-filled factory markings, large gold “Bronc-Buster" on the recoil shield, and a silver steer skull on the loading gate. The front of the frame has both Angelo Bee's name and honeybee trademark below the cylinder pin head. The checkered ivory grips are in excellent condition and have a charging herd of bison on the left side carved in deep relief. One of the lead bison has a gold finished Indian lance in its shoulder. The revolver is housed in a green velvet-lined wooden case with relief carved Rampant Colt inlay on the lid, and scrimmed ivory panel with Colt trademark on the interior lining. The revolver action currently has a removable internal block installed in order to prevent the cylinder from turning and acquiring a drag mark. The case key is also included, so is a letter by Nutmeg Sports in which the owner, Jim Alaimo (former Colt Custom Shop Superintendent) attests to the grips having been fashioned from ivory imported prior to 1989. There is also a second, 2012 dated letter from Mr. Alaimo detailing the work done on the revolver. This is a splendid Single Action Army, embellished by one of the greatest craftsmen to work in the 20th and 21st centuries. FFL
