Description:
This is one of the highly-regarded Verney Carropn double rifles in the classic 470 NE caliber. It just returned from a successful African hunt for Tuskless Elephant and Cape Buffalo. It shows a few small marks of use, but the top lever is still well to the right and the rifle is in excellent shape.
The Verney Carron rifles have probably the strongest lock-up of any double, with a triple hinge set-up joining the barrel set to the receiver. The rifle is very well regulated, with Hornady and Federal ammunition printing 1 to 1 1/2" groups at 50 yards, and Norma a bit wider. The rifle weighs about 10 lbs, with 24" barrels and a 14 1/2" LOP.
This rifle is ready for a lifetime of big game hunting, at a cost of almost half its original retail value.
