Description:
This is a Smith & Wesson Model 10-5 Military & Police Model .38 Special revolver.  One of S&W's most popular models, the Model 10 was introduced at the turn of the century in 1899 as the Military & Police Model before the models were changed into number designations, and made in dozens of variations until being discontinued in 2010.  They earned a reputation as a no-nonsense, tough, relaible, and accurate .38 Special revolver and were used all over the U.S. and the world.  This K-frame nickel plated revolver has a 6-shot cylinder and a 5" inch barrel.  It is serial number D104566 and was manufactured in 1969.  It is all original except for the grips, which are factory originals but do not number to this gun.  This Model 10-5 has been used and carried but not abused.  It has the sought-after features of a pinned barrel and a hammer-mounted firing pin. The factory nickel finish still looks good overall but shows minor handling and use marks.  You can see these in the pictures provided.  The bore is excellent in this Model 10.  There is no pitting and it is still bright with prominent and sharp rifling.  The cylinder bores are equally as nice.  The checkered Walnut grips while not original to this gun, actually fit it very well.  If not for the different serial number on the inside right grip they look factory-fit.  The mechanics of this S&W are perfect.  The action is perfectly "in time" and it locks up tight.  The action is smooth in double or single action, and the trigger is particularly exceptional when pulled in single action firing.  It breaks cleanly with a light pull with no slop.  This classy vintage S&W Model 10-5 would make a great shooter or home self defense pistol.
