Description:
38-55, serial number 2129XX. Mfg 1901. 26" octagon barrel, standard rifle configuration. Marked "From W.H Sheard Tacoma Wash". Barrel and receiver shows 20% bright blue with rust freckling. Magazine tube retains more blue, possible old replacement. Bore shows wear, smooth, even pitting throughout yet shootable. Front sight Sheard gold bead, rear sight semi-buckhorn with elevator, both appear correct for period. Mechanically sound. Walnut forend appears sound, correct, with age appropriate wear/marring. Buttstock has cresent rifle buttplate, appers light color with older refinish. Moderate marring with 1" crack at head on right side. Very small chip out of toe. More photos on request.
