1860s Antique REMINGTON New Model POLICE Revolver
Handy Percussion Revolver Made Circa 1869
Here we present an antique Remington New Model Police Revolver, made circa 1869 in Ilion, New York. This revolver was a smaller version of the Remington-Beals design, made for law enforcement and citizens to arm themselves. They were made beginning in the last year of the Civil War and production continued until Smith & Wesson’s Rollin White expired in 1873, making way for a new era of cartridge revolvers.
The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The walnut grips are a bit worn, but smooth and solid. The bore is dark and dusty. The action is functional but the hammer slips on one of the chambers.
