Description:
Colt US Army 1918. Cal. 45 acp. This 1911 has been in my posession for 30 plus years. I believe this was sent to U.S. General Hospital in Ashville, NC in 1918. This was taken from the excellent book by Edward Meadows. The serial is 569378. The barrel is P proof and is in great condition. Here are some other facts taken from Mr. Clawsons pocket guide. The left side of the frame has the eagle head S12 inspector mark. It has the round nosed recoil spring plug and the correct rounded recoil spring guide. Large block slide lettering. Standard slide config with the rampant logo between the patent legend. Mid 1918 style safety lock. Correct borderless hammer and matching checering on the slide stop.It has the H and G mark near the disconnector hole along with the corrector firing pin stop. It is finished in what Clawson refers to black finish. There is zero pitting nor any rust everything looks up tight it has never been to a rebuild arsenal.
There is a visible 5 stamped on the underside of the slide near the disconecter hole. Not sure what this means so please enlighten me if you know. The Mag is wrong and I am sure I replaced trhe grip screws. I offer lay a way 1/3 down 1/3 at 60 days and balance by 60 days.
