CIVIL WAR HARPERS FERRY MODEL 1816 CONFEDERATE CONVERSION PERCUSSION MUSKET CA. 1861. Union Manufacturing Company, Richmond, Virginia bolster conversion of a Harper’s Ferry U.S. Model 1816 Flintlock to percussion at the beginning of the civil War. .69 caliber smoothbore 42” barrel. All original and complete except the ramrod which is a modern replacement. Lock in working order and with excellent markings “HARPERS/FERRY/1819” and “EAGLE/US”. Stock with wear but faint outline of the original cartouche is still visible to the rear of the side plate. Lock in working order and reasonably good bore. See Dr. Murphy’s “CONFEDERATE RIFLES & MUSKETOONS” pp.709-718 and illustration of an identical conversion on page 717, pl.8. Scarce and in nice condition for one of these.
