Here we present a Hopkins & Allen Hammerless Revolver, made circa 1914 in Norwich, Connecticut. Hopkins & Allen had its roots in the mid-to-late 19th Century, producing revolvers and other firearms under their own name, as well as producing all of the Merwin & Hulbert revolvers. These latter revolvers have been increasingly recognized for their unique design and high-quality manufacture.
This 5-shot, .38 S&W revolver features a similar design to Smith & Wesson revolvers of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The top breaks open, activating the automatic ejector. This one also includes a neat little safety on the back strap that looks like a small wheel. The barrel address is “HOPKINS & ALLEN ARMS CO. NORWICH CT. U.S.A./PAT. JANY 5. OCT.5.86. SEPT.26.93”.
The overall condition is fair. 35% of the original blue finish remain. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in good shape. The bore is clear. The action on this revolver is functioning but needs a new trigger return spring and firing pin.
