Belgium has a long history of arms making for all of Europe and much of the world that continues to present day. Here is an example circa 1840. Pistols like this used to be prevalent in the streets of European cities and could be carried in a pocket or purse. This pistol has a massive .70 caliber smooth bore with a fully octagonal barrel. There is a cap trap in the pommel of the stock. The lock and trigger guard are modestly engraved. The top of the barrel is marked “CANOJA RUBANS D’ACIER”. And the left side of the barrel has a Liege proof mark. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in very good condition, showing little wear for the age. The bore is dark and smooth. The action on this pistol is strong. Own the original!
