Description:
Serial numbered in the 16xxx range and manufactured in 1878, this is one of the rarest configurations offered in the 1877 Model. These early guns did not have the circled Rampant Colt stamped on the frame, they were furnished with one piece rosewood grips that were full checkered, and equipped with a german silver front sight. They also carried the acid etched barrel caliber marking. This 2 1/2 inch barrel (Sheriffs Model) is totally original in every respect, and retains about 70% of its bright blue and case hardened finish. In addition, it comes with an excellent and genuine F.A. Meanea, Cheyenne Wyoming belt holster, which is contemporary in age with the gun. The survival rate of these holsters is even lower than that of the gun. Finally, the gun is in perfect working condition and has an excellent bore.
