CLASSIC, EARLY “S” PREFIX MODEL 27-2 .357 MAGNUM 4” REVOLVER WITH TARGET HAMMER, TARGET TRIGGER AND CUSTOM HERRETT WALNUT STOCKS, #S 230XXX, MADE 1962-1963. This was one of the flagship revolvers in the entire S&W line going all the way back to the introduction of the .357 Magnum cartridge in 1935. Incredible attention was given to each of these early 1960s revolvers with special care taken with fit, finish and action. The overall finish shows only light edge wear with excellent bright bore and tight action with no end shake or cylinder movement when cocked. I don’t believe this gun was fired much if at all as about all the original blue still remains on the cylinder face- this is quickly blown off by firing factory .357 Mag. ammo. Nice case color on the hammer and trigger. The inside of the checkered walnut grips are marked Herrett and they show only a little wear to the lower edge from holster carry. Nice early example of a time in S&Ws history when only the finest of arms left the factory.
