Description:
This is a rare Winchester Classic Super Grade in 7mm STW caliber which was only offered in 1999, with a total production run of only 230 rifles. This rifle is unfired since leaving the factory, and is in mint condition with the original box and all the paperwork, etc. that it left the factory with. This Classic Super Grade features a 26" inch barrel with no iron sights, true controlled-round feeding with a jeweled bolt with a stainless steel Mauser-style extractor, a 3-position safety, and a deluxe satin-finished checkered Walnut stock with a cheekpiece and a black forend tip. This was Winchester's flagship production model rifle outside of the custom shop "Custom Grade" rifles. The 7mm STW cartridge otherwise known as the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner, started life as a "Wildcat" round developed in 1979. It is a true 1000-yard cartridge with a reputation as a superb long-range elk and big game cartridge. Based off of a necked-down 8mm Remington Magnum case, the 7mm STW pushes a 140 grain bullet at 3,268 fps with 3,321 foot pounds of energy. As mentioned previously, this Winchester Classic Super Grade is in like-new, unfired condition with 99%+ of the factory gloss blue finish remaining. The only deduction keeping it from being rated 100% is a tiny little scratch on the floorplate ahead of the floorplate release button. The bore in this rifle is pristine and bright. The rifling is still new with sharp lands and grooves and there are no imperfections visible whatsoever. The factory original stock is also in like-new condition and is free from any wear, handling/storage marks, or repairs. It is a beautiful piece of American Walnut with some handsome figuring in the buttstock, and the checkering is still nice and crisp. This deluxe stock has a black forend tip, a blued steel pistol grip cap, factory inletted sling swivel bases, and a factory installed Winchester-branded "Decelerator" recoil pad. The length of pull is 13 & 5/8ths inches to the end of the pad. This Model 70 comes with the original box with an intact factory end-label serial numbered to the rifle and all of the paperwork which is all in excellent condition like the rifle itself. If you have been looking for a new addition for your Winchester or rifle collection, this rare 1 of 230 built Classic Super Grade would be a superb choice. It should not only be an excellent big game rifle, but an excellent long-term investment as well.
