This beautiful Winchester Model 70 Classic Super Grade in .300 Remington Ultra Magnum is in minty unfired condition and comes with the original box and all of the paperwork. The Model 70 Classic Super Grade was Winchester's best production rifle outside of the custom shop, and it incorporated all the best features of the legendary pre-1964 rifles with modern production techniques. This example is serial number G357401 and was bought new and put up in storage for at least the last 12 plus years, as this particular model was discontinued in 2006. It features a 26" inch barrel with no iron sights, true controlled round feeding with a Mauser style claw extractor, a beautiful jeweled bolt, a bolt-mounted 3-position safety, and a satin finished and checkered deluxe Walnut stock with factory inletted sling swivel bases, an black forend tip, and a Winchester-branded Pachmayer recoil pad. The barrel, floorplate, trigger guard, sling bases, and factory drilled and tapped receiver were all finished in a high-gloss blue which rates 99% plus. The only deduction comes from the action screw in front of the floorplate which has a slightly buggered slot. This could be replaced for a few dollars if the new owner so chooses. The polished and jeweled bolt is in like-new condition and is beautiful. The bore is bright and spotless, with sharp lands and grooves in the rifling. There are no visible imperfections in the bore whatsoever. The deluxe Walnut stock is very handsome on this rifle. The satin finish is in excellent shape and really shows off the natural figure and contrasting grain in the wood. This particular stock has nice "tiger" stripes running at an angle from the front to the back on both sides. At certain angles they really show some depth and look 3-D. The factory checkering is still crisp and clean. The stock is free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and the black forend tip, sling bases, and recoil pad are all in excellent shape and tight to the wood. As mentioned previously, this rifle is unfired since being test-fired at the factory. All of the rifle's controls work perfectly, and the action is smooth and precise when worked by hand. The trigger on this Winchester is particularly good, breaking with with no discernible creep or grit. The .300 RUM chambering is ideal for big game or long distance shooting, with the cartridge pushing a bullet up to 200 grains at over 3000 fps! This round will cleanly take any big game in North America, even at very long distances. As mentioned previously, this Model 70 Classic Super Grade comes with the original box with the serial numbered end-label intact, as well as all of the paperwork it left the factory with. If you have been looking for a classy and beautiful big game rifle to add to your collection this would be an excellent choice. As this rifle is no longer made, it would also be a great addition to any collection as a long-term investment.
