Description:
We have an old Herters J-9, chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum that is in origional nearly new condition. There only defect noted is what appears to be s fine chip just forward of the bolt handle, a couple of inches long and seen on a couple of the photos. It is stamped on the receiver, Mitchell, SD along with Interarms Mk X, which were the importers of these mauser commercial 98 actions for many other custom rifles. The Bishop rifle comes to mind, made in the 60's. The barrel is 26" in length and measures .710 at the muzzle, I would say medium heavy to heavy. Weight as pictured is 9# and 3 oz. The stock is walnut and appears quite dense tight grain. Bore is bright and shiny and rifle appears to have been fired very little. Herters did use some Douglas barrels on their magnum calibers but I don't know if this is one of them. The rifle came to me with B&L bases and they will be included if desired at n/c. Does anyone collect Herters? or need a beanfield rifle. Shipped to your lower 48 dealer for $599- insured. SOLD
