We are sure proud to offer this fine example of hard to find Savage Fox Sterlingworth Deluxe. This gun was built after the Savage purchase of the A.H. Fox Gun Company, and bears the Utica NY address. Made in 1930, this double has the good features of a Philadelphia gun, such as the capped pistol grip stock, with the added amenities of twin ivory beads, factory recoil pad, and ejectors. These are the hallmarks of the 1930 cataloged Deluxe model. This one is in good condition, other than the highly original expired butt pad. There are only about 2 other of these sought after guns on the market, both in the 3500-3900 price range, and both with very new looking butt pads. I will start this one at hundreds of dollars less, and let you decide if you wish to replace the pad. The 26 inch barrels are very good, with 26 and 6 thousandths of choke; full and skeet. The bores are bright, and the blue is generally strong, with some light freckling. The wood is also good, with some light handling marks and small losses to the forend. The receiver has generous amounts of case color, and she locks up tight. She tips the scales at 5 3/4 pounds, drop at heel is 2 1/2 and has an LOP of 14 inches to the end of the time compressed pad. This early Savage Fox is one of the last Fox guns accepted by collectors, as quality and features declined in the years following. If you have been looking for the dainty and well featured Sterlingworth Deluxe, but don't want to break the bank, then look no further. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
