Fitted, from the factory, with 2 sets of 12 gauge barrels: one set is 26 ½” choked IC/M and the other set is 28” choked M/F; each set with its individual field forearm, vent ribs with metal front sight and each number correctly. The buttstock was made from a beautiful piece of French walnut, darkly figured and finished, like the forearms, in a factory hand-rubbed oil finish. Of course it is a round knob, long tang field configuration with a 14 ¼” LOP over the original buttplate; 1 ½” DAC & 2 ¼” DAH with neutral cast. The frame was masterfully engraved by Alfonse Marechal. The barrels retain over 98% original rust blue with the only noticeable wear under the bottom barrels where the forearm slides. Frame finish is 98%+ with just the gold worn off the front of the trigger. The oil finish is 98%+ as well with just a few light handling marks. All in all this is a magnificent Superposed. With the 26 ½” barrels the gun weighs 7 lbs. 1 oz.; with the 28” barrels it weighs 7 lbs. 4 oz. It comes cased in what appears to be the original Hartmann/Browning luggage case, although the plastic handle is broken and repaired. $8500.00 SN: 76847 SOLD |
