Signed SOUTHERN Antique Percussion .45 LONG RIFLE
Signed with Initials “A.D.”
Here we present an antique Full Stock Southern Long Rifle, signed with the Initials “A.D.”, made circa the 1840s. This would have made a great rifle for just about anything one would need in the mid-19th Century: game for the pot or protection for the homestead.
This rifle features a 32-1/2 inch octagonal barrel in .45 caliber. The top of the barrel is marked with the initials “A.D.” The stock is full length and features a very distinctive grain. All of the hardware is made of iron: trigger guard, long barrel tang, butt plate, and long patch box. The lock appears to be marked “GOLCHER”.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in good shape with some small repairs and some edge loss on the right side of the forestock. The bore is dark. The action on this rifle is strong. Here is a very handsome Southern Rifle!
