1ST YEAR "J" SERIES SMITH & WESSON MODEL 38 BODYGUARD AIRWEIGHT .38 SPECIAL 1 7/8" REVOLVER WITH SHROUDED HAMMER, CIRCA 1966. Serial number "J89XX" so 1st year for the j-prefix guns. All model 38's had shrouded hammers. Pinned barrel. Alloy frame with 99% original blue black anodized finish. 100% factory blue on barrel and cylinder. All the case color on trigger. Factory rounded grips excellent. Screws unturned. Hardly shot with very faint drag line and definitely NOT carried. Prime example. Photos of muzzle give the impression there is muzzle wear but really just glare from lights. 100% blue on barrel.
