Description:
This is an antique (made in 1898) Marlin 1895 chambered in 45/70. Years ago I came across a decent gun with a shot out barrel.  I decided to restore it, replacing the old, worn out 26" barrel with a  NOS 26" barrel I've had sitting for about 20 years. That barrel was never put on a gun and has NOT been reblued. The receiver, buttplate and all other screws and forend cap were sent to Turnbull for restoration. Over a year later and a lot of money spent, I got it back. I chose the nicest standard walnut I could find and put it on the gun. It could use a little more work but I didn't want to ruin it. I didn't get around to choosing a front sight. The rear is an old Marbles. The magazine tube that is on there now is modern and was fashioned to fit the receiver.  That area is hidden by the forend.  It can be discarded as the original magazine tube (that I never got a chance to reblue) will be included.  This rifle functions flawlessly with a superb, smooth action and has, basically, a mint bore barrel. The case hardening is simply gorgeous and I'm sure you will love this rifle. I hate to see it go after all I've done, but go it must for personal reasons. Please ask all questions before buying as there are no returns. Again, this is an antique so it can be sent right to you.
