Description:
This is a very nice vintage Dan Wesson Model 744-VH revolver in .44 Magnum with a 6" inch barrel. Itr comes complete with the original box and barrel tools. It has spent the last 10 to 20 years in storage, and appears to have been fired very little during the course of it's life. We do not see this particular model very often and doing a general search online shows it to be a scarce gun. The 744-VH Model is a SA/DA large frame revolver with a removable barrel. The idea was that you could buy different length barrels for this model and install whatever barrel best fit your needs at any given time instead of having to buy an entirely new gun. The stainless steel finish on this revovler is very attractive and only shows some tiny handling marks under close inspection. The barrel shroud that is currently installed is ported, but the barrel itself is not. The bore in this Dan Wesson is minty and bright. The rifling still has sharp lands and grooves and there is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible. The cylinder bores are equally as clean and do not show any imperfections either. The factory original 1-piece smooth Walnut grips with "DW" medallions are in excellent shape. They are free from any cracks, chips, or repairs, and the medallions are still intact and tight to the wood. The factory adjustable target-style rear sight is in great shape as well and the windage and elevation adjustment screws have clean slots. Everything on this Model 744-VH works 100% like the day it left the factory. The action is smooth and perfectly "in-time" regardless of whether it is worked in double or single action. The cylinder locks up nice and tight and the trigger is quite good, breaking cleanly without any grit or slop. As mentioned before, this Dan Wesson comes with the original box with the serial numbered factory end-label intact. Inside the box it also has the original factory "tool kit" which includes a gap feeler gauge and barrel-removal multi-tool. This is really a cool vintage Dan Wesson model and would be an excellent addition to any collection as an investment and shooter.
