Description:
Very nice Colt 1849 Pocket of Navy Caliber .36 converted by Colt factory to 38 Rimfire caliber. This one has a full nickel finish with about 80% of the original nickel remaining. This is a Type 4 conversion with style C frame in the third serial # range with all matching numbers on barrel, trigger guard, frame and grip. Correctly unnumbered wedge. 4.5" octagon barrel. Correct 2-line patent dates on left side of frame. 85% cylinder scene remains, and cylinder shows the original percussion serial # as well as the matching conversion serial #. Solid grips with slight wear, no repairs, no chunks missing. Brass is that dark mustard color indicating it has never been cleaned or polished. Tight hammer spring and indexes perfectly. Very good bore with sharp and distinct rifling, some typical black powder scattered pitting. Nice example of a true Colt factory percussion conversion to metallic rimfire.
