Description:
This is a beautiful vintage Sako Deluxe rifle imported by Stoeger in .300 Winchester Magnum. It is all-original and in excellent condition and comes with a set of Leupold rings made for the Sako integral bases. The Deluxe Model by Sako was one of their finest models. This particular Deluxe is on a Sako "AV" long action and features a deluxe high-gloss factory blue finish on all of the metal parts, with a 24" inch long barrel with no iron sights (barrel is stamped "IMP'D BY STOEGER INC. N.J." on bottom ahead of stock forend). The triggerguard and floorplate features beautiful yet simple factory engraving left bright for contrast. The stock is a beautiful piece of hardwood with skip-line checkering and a contrasting forend tip and pistol grip cap. The stock has factory installed sling swivel studs and a Sako-branded recoil pad that pulls 14" inches to the end of the pad. The condition of this Sako Deluxe is superb as it has been in storage for the last 20 +/- years. The factory gloss blue finish rates 98%+, with the only deduction for a small area of finish wear on the bolt handle knob (close-up picture provided). This was most likely a result of storage and not actual use/handling. This rifle could possibly be unfired since being test-fired at the factory. It shows no signs of being fired on the bolt face or bore. The bore is minty and bright. The rifling still has sharp lands and grooves and there are no visible imperfections in it whatsoever. The stock is also in excellent condition with no cracks, repairs, or finish wear. Only under close inspection can a few tiny handling marks be found. The factory skip-line checkering is still sharp and clean. All of the controls on this rifle work 100% like the day it left Sako's factory. The action is smooth and precise, and goes into battery perfectly with no slop. The factory trigger is excellent, breaking like glass with a light pull weight. If you have been looking for a top-quality Sako for your collection this .300 Win. Mag. Deluxe Model would be a perfect addition. This sought-after example would be nearly impossible to upgrade from, and should continue to be an excellent investment for decades to come.
