World War II Imperial Japanese Gunto
Here we present an Imperial Japanese Gunto, manufactured circa 1940. This one features a rayskin grip. The scabbard is wood under brown leather. Though the Japanese had adopted several more Western designs for military blades, this one was still based on the traditional Japanese sword known as the katana with a slightly curved blade ending in a piercing, angular point.
The overall condition is very good. The blade is 25-3/4 inches in length.
