BELGIAN Antique Engraved 9mm PINFIRE Revolver
Late-19th Century European Double Action Revolver
Here we present an antique Engraved Double Action Pinfire Revolver, manufactured in mid-19th Century Liege, Belgium. The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries and police. The cartridge had a firing pin built into the side into which would slam the flat of the hammer as it stuck out of the cylinder.
This revolver holds 6 shots of 9mm Pinfire. This revolver functions in both double and single action. The engraving consists of floral patterns throughout the frame and cylinder and on top of the barrel. The gutta percha grips are very intricately sculpted. The right side of the barrel was stamped “C.S.A.” at some point.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are mostly bright. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in great shape. The bore is clean with good rifling. The action on this revolver is functional, though the trigger return is not currently functional.
