AMERICAN COLONIAL ERA BRITISH KING JAMES I HOUNSLOW HANGER CA. 1630-60. 32” o/a with 26” blade decorated with “Mortuary” motifs of King James I in helmet and armour and with various Latin inscriptions. German touch mark on ricasso (probably Solingen). Iron hilt and guard with stag horn grip. All original except the small screw attaching the guard to the pommel cap. Excellent overall with fine original patina. Very scarce form of hanger or the type carried to the Virginia and New England.
